I mean seriously, that was the plan. Jag, you make cars, you had one job. Land Rover IS your SUV and Crossover arm. You're one and the same. Like if Chevy quit making trucks, it would be fine because we have GMC. Is Tata trying to kill LR? That's the only thing I can think of as to a reason for these shenanigans.

Or, they're building the Jag SUV so they don't have to hear "Well how does it do off road" every time they release a new model of Land Rover. Kind of takes the pressure off making something that is good both off and on the pavement.

I understand that LR has a certain image, but the fact of the matter is that making anything even remotely 4WD looking in the Jag lineup is just narrowing the band in which LR can expand. And they're not expensive enough to sustain the brand on 2-3 models. Unless they want to be passed off again.

Because, you see, LR can not start making cars. They just cant.

I don't think people who want a Jag SUV are in the market for the RR Sport or RR, more likely this will eat into the Evoque's market and I'm okay with that. As it stands right now LR can not make enough RR Sports to meet demand so I don't think there is too much to worry about.

Don't get me wrong, I completely agree. That's why I can't figure out why Tata is doing this. The original plan was to have the 2 function as different segments of the same brand, one for cars and one for SUVs. This obviously is not in line with these plans.

Apart from the fact that the Jag is clearly more of a who-are-you-kidding-this-isn't-a-crossover-it's-a-wagon, the marketing does seem confused.
